Erewash Borough Council is providing a school holiday treat next week when a free children’s play bus arrives at Ilkeston Market Place as part of a Half-Term Tuesday market.
The special market on Tuesday 16 February will celebrate the school break with a visit from Squiggles Playbus, a children’s mobile soft play centre. Youngsters can play for free on the bus, which will be on Ilkeston Market Place between 9am – 3pm while the market is open.
Parents and visitors will be able to pick up some great bargains from the new Tuesday market while the children are playing – with stalls selling a range of foods, fashions, flowers and fabrics.
This special Half-Term market is part of the council’s on-going commitment to help boost businesses and regenerate Ilkeston town centre.
Councillor Michael Powell, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Regeneration and Planning, says:
“We hosted a Shrove Tuesday market last year which was a big success and we’re hoping that this Half Term Tuesday market will prove equally popular.
“This new market is all about attracting more people into the town centre to support both our market traders and the shops in Ilkeston town centre. If this event proves popular then we will certainly look at holding more Tuesday markets in the future.”
