Richard is a long standing Conservative Activist, an experienced campaigner; candidate; agent and now a Councillor.

Richard is a trained IT and Business Consultant but currently works as a Team Coordinator for Marks and Spencer.

Richard is a member of the Conservative Christian Fellowship; Conservatives for Britain and Conservative a Trade Unionists.

Richard joined the Centre-Right think tank Parliament Street in April 2016 as Director of the Apprenticeship Scheme. In November 2016, Richard moved in to the role of Disability Spokesman for the Think Tank.

In May 2015, Richard was elected as Conservative Borough Councillor for the Derby Road West Ward and came top of the ballot paper with 1709 votes.

Richard was appointed to the Council’s Scrutiny Committee; General Purposes Committee and the Rate Relief Determination Panel. Richard was also appointed to the Derby and Sandiacre Canal Trust.

On January 10th 2017, Richard was appointed as Whip to the Conservative Group on Erewash Borough Council until the end of the ensuing Civic Year.

On May 7th 2017, Richard was re-appointed as Whip to the Conservative Group on Erewash Borough Council on a permanent basis.

At the Annual Council Meeting on May 18th 2017, Richard received the honour of being appointed Chairman of the Borough Council’s Scrutiny Committee. As a result of this promotion Richard was moved from General Purposes Committee to the Council’s Audit Committee. Retaining his position on the Rate Relief Determination Panel and his outside bodies appointment on the Derby and Sandiacre Canal Trust Board of Directors, Richard was also appointed to the East Midlands Local Government Association Scrutiny Network.
